i wonder how, i wonder why...

1) when comet goes on a trail that he is not familar with, he becomes quieter and more controllable. But once we go back on the usual route he becomes restless and harder to control.. (or maybe its just me...)
2) he seems to like wet ground. not sure why though.. but its giving him a little puppy rash which seem like angry pimples....in his nether regions..
3) he can't drink properly from the water dispenser. He just sticks his tongue and a large amount of water gushes out. mostly onto the floor (thus the wetness and my point in (2) ). Then he will choke a bit and continue to drink again
4) he's quite nip-py around our fingers... maybe its cos we use it to clamp his mouth when he's naughty or noisy...
5) he loses interest very fast. instead of being contented with just chewing and playing by himself, he needs toys that create some movement so he can do his pouncing thing or tug-of-war. Wonder if there's a toy out there that is like that....
6) he doesn't like the treats that we bought which is SO WIERD. So all we are feeding him now is just the normal dog food. he's eating a bit more now though and we feed him around 7am and 730pm.. i hope the 12 hour intervals is fine with him..

still, he's walking a lot (and so are we!) and leaving us with aching legs...and he seems to be sleeping a lot quieter at night..

oh and he snores... but very softly

*grin*

Hi Guys, I had to take care of a puppy once, learnt a bit from it, so here's my two cents worth:

Comet belongs to a densely haired breed. He might be taken to the wetness because it feels cooling? It might still be a bit messy but if he's not used to the dispenser, try the old water-in-bowl thing?

Try and avoid allowing him to nibble at your fingers (or any other body parts, at that). Message to him in the long run is that it is 'fun' and alright to do so. Going to be frightening if he tries it on a smaller creature, like a child. By the way, if he ever needs a bit of physical disciplining (hopefully not, but big dogs are tougher to control), never use your hands, instead, use something like a newspaper to tap him. He should then associate fear with the newspaper thingy, and not you.

Two feeds a day for him should be ok, and not a bad thing that he is not greedy for treats now, or he will get fat fast. All said, I think many people do train dogs by baiting them with treats. You will have to figure this one out for Comet if he is not too motivated by the treats at this point.

Hope some of that helps. :o)
