Short week!

Yay! tonight we are going to watch Pirates! Yo-ho-ho-ho ! Can't wait....

Yay! Tomorrow on TV there's 50 first dates and Shallow Hal! Those are 2 very good movies to chill @ home on a Vesak day holiday and vegetate. Especially 50 first dates. I mentioned to wifey about how I would do the same if i were in Adam Sandler's shoes and she was all emo about it because the last few scenes are the ones that will bring tears to our eyes..... :) awww.. Love you wifey!

Yay! Saturday we going to Night Safari. First time leh for me. What a louchi singaporean i must make. Can't eat chilli (but can eat Curry and Prata). Don't really like durians (but can eat la if required) and havent been to the Night Safari... :)

Yay! Wedding days are getting closer! Excited. Very excited :) Now mostly is the waiting for it to happen... oh and of course packing and logistical stuff for both the wedding and honeymoonnnnn....

Yay! Bought Puzzle Quest for PSP. It combines Bejewelled aspects as well as RPG roleplaying. VERY VERY fun (so far...)

Yay! I finally did some semi-end game content in WoW. Went to Kara like.... twice....only... but still fun :)

A few firsts today...

snuffy hubby and i had a few firsts today. =P

it was his first time to the manicurist.

he spent the whole session staring at his fingernails, which were being treated, buffed and shined.

the staff were amused to learn that it was his first time because he looked like he's done it a thousand times when he walked into the shop.



then we took a trip down to town to the apple epicenter, which was celebrating its birthday over the weekend (thus the sales).

i've been eyeing a new iPod for a while but was even more compelled to get it when i saw that the iSkin at the store was cheaper than the ones i saw at junction 8 or the creative stores.

plus, they were throwing in a freebie and a discount off the original price.

so i ditched the idea of buying everything in the US this summer and went for the deal instead.

and today marks the first time i'm goo-goo-ga-ga-ing over a new tech toy, instead of the resident techie - snuffy hubby.

i'm eyeing the rest of the tokidoki collection of iSkins!

My New Pair of Eyes

and i do mean it literally.

i have just underwent LASIK the past two days - Tuesday for my left eye and Wednesday for my right eye.

the doc's just given me to okay to use the computer so here i am!

i don't think i'll ever forget the experience since i was probably the most curious and talkative patient that guy's ever had in the operating theater. =P

so here's my attempt at documenting the experience...

Tuesday:

i had gone to the TTSH lasik eye center alone for the surgery with A/Prof Heng Wee Jin. i was prepped for the op in a sanitized suit and had an arrow stuck on my forehead to indicate the eye to be operated on. of course, i loaded the nurse with plenty of questions about post-op procedures, when i could begin with skincare products and all.


after a 20-min wait (there was a patient before me), i was ushered into the OT and given some anti-inflammatory and numbing eye drops. as soon as the doc said hi to me, i told him that i wanted to know everything that would happen before he executed them. then in we went and i laid myself on the table and was swung under some bright lights.

the doc first opened up by lids with tape and then stretched them open with a ring, which was to hold my lids in place so i didn't blink. then he marked my cornea with some ink and placed a suction ring over my eye. he didn't tell me then, but that suction ring also housed a blade which sliced a flap in my cornea (i found that out in the post-op examination). then i was made to focus on a red light for about 30 seconds. there was a short break in between and then towards the end, he would count down to the end of the laser. the laser treatment produced a very light burnt smell (like how a burnt fish on a barbie would). then he pushed the cornea flap back into place.

the whole procedure was interspersed with constant wetting of the eyes and numbing drops to make me feel more comfy.

the wednesday procedure was pretty much the same except for it happening a lot quicker. and snuffy hubby waited outside for me so i had someone to run out to. =)


i was given antibiotic eye drops and natural tears for home use every two hours.

today, i was asked to cut the antibiotic drops down to four times a day.

i also found out, in today's checkup, that my left eye now has 6/4.5 vision while my healing right eye has 6/6 vision. the doc said my right eye is doing better than how my left eye did yesterday, so this bodes very well.

besides the red spot on my left eye (that's supposed to heal over two weeks or so), my eyes look good to go.

so i'll be back to work tomorrow, but no make up or scent for two weeks. =)

what's worrying...

when you are in the IT dept and one of your colleagues uses only their middle fingers to bang away at the keyboard.... *sweat*....

well well... wifey finally did her lasik for both eyes and i've taken leave to take care of her. Taking care of her involves waking her up every 2 hrs to apply eye drops to her eyes and then keeping her company. We took pics too and will be posting up soon.

Her eyes now r ok as of checkup today and has somewat better vision than normal. Yesterday @ the eye clinic waiting (there are quite a few pple doing lasik sia..) i finally understood wat 20/15 or 9/6 vision means.

6/6 is normal. means that u can see clearly what normal pple sees at 6m. For shortsightedness, usually its 6/20 or so. Means you can see clearly at 6m what a normal person can see clearly at 20m away. (i.e. if an item is 20m away, u must go up to 6m away from that item to be able to see it clearly).

SO with 9/6 means that you can see an item clearly 9m away whereas a normal person must be 6m away to see the same item clearly.

And here i thought having 9/6 means you can have x-ray vision or something :P

oh well...still, being able to wake up and see CLEARLY is still a good advantage of lasik ... i might go for mine end of the year or something....

Typical day in our lives now starts off with donald duck "singing". Its my alarm signal from my handphone. Then i go get ready for work whilst the wifey nuas a bit more in bed. Then i go over and give her my "Eric-Brand" wakeup call *snicker* and she go preps whilst i go downstairs to eat my breakfast.

After we both finish breakfast we stroll out, hand-in-hand, whispering sweet stuff to each other to the bus stop. Usually this is interspersed with some singing (no we are not crazy..... :P)

Work we keep in contact via emails (as i dun have msn in office) and then we arrange to meet up at night.

If we have anything on, we will go do stuff, else we go bac home, watch some tv and then prep for sleep. Before we really go to bed however we spend some more time snuggling in bed and chatting.

Life is goot goot goot :D

monday when i was on a cab to a business lunch, i called snuffy hubby for a quick update on some stuff.

after i hung up, the cab driver looked at me through the rear-view mirror and said that i have a very good air about me.

he added that i seem to take everything in my stride even though i rush for work.

i smiled and said i'm lucky to love what i do.

but i think snuffy hubby's optimism rubbed off on me a little. =)

Electric company was one of those shows i will watch whenever i come back from morning session classes when i was in primary school. I can now only remember spiderman clips within the show and when he talks there's a little sound blurp and a bubble appears on top of his head. The character playing spiderman will look up @ his own speech bubble and then nod.. hhaha
Ooo.. one of the readers mentioned that Morgan Freeman was in it! OMG.....i wonder if i shld buy the dvd box set when I am in states hahahaha

Cant rem much of that show.. but i reckon it will come back to me if i see images...

also the mahna mahna song from the Muppets :) The muppets was another phenom that was simply amazing and good for kids. There was also fragglerock and even a muppets movie if i remember correctly.

There were some kid movies that i remember watching too. The most memorable was one of which this kid (or kids... cant rem) was travelling all around the world (escaping from bad people) and thus got to see all the different cultures. It was fascinating for me.

Speaking of cartoons and childhood shows, i remember most of the cartoon jingles.. like thundercats, captain planet, bionic 6, Mask, Transformers, Centurions, Bravestar, He-Man, My little pony, Smurfs, Snokels......

nice mini miltary toys (just for boys !) and have a nice hardy feel to it (there are metal parts). Plus they had all these attention to details which i loved.Very fun to play and bring on cars to play. I rem playing with my brother as my parents drove us to whichever destination.

i remember i had a stegosaur and my bro had a trex. Then one time i was trying to simulate battle damage and i took off some pieces of his trex. After which i could never put it back again :p I bought some when i was last in HK for work and well i was tinking of buying this HUGE white gorilla but never really got around to doing it. (Space for keeping and displaying it discouraged me. :P) Zoid is still having quite a good run (including anime) now in japan.


My childhood shows are not entirely all american. There was this singaporean old serial that i watched too. Its about this robot called Xiao Di1 di1 that brings some kids along for journeys back into the past (thus teaching us abt Sang Nila Utama and that old ching gang). I remember at the last episode he had to leave earth and the kids were crying that he had to go. I was crying too.

did i just bring back some memories for u too ? :P

NOTE: I wonder if this is mid-life crisis when u start to think about your childhood years..
NOTE NOTE: I always wonder why i have all this crap stored up in my brain.. i mean for godsake, shouldnt i keep more important information? sheesh....

seems amazon.com has bought over dpreview.com. Dpreview has always been a source of reviews and info for me regarding cameras etc and now it has been bought over :( One wonders now if the reviews will be as impartial and independant as before or will there be some string pulling behind ...

from my end, i never really kept anything for long from childhood. mostly cos we move house quite a bit and all the old stuff end up gettign donated to salvation army. The 1 thing that i rem i kept for a long time was this small green and black checkered pillow i had when i was young. i would be hard-pressed to part with that ....... until i got sick ....

I bought the LOTR-Extended Version last wk and this weekend we spent it on a LOTR-marathon.

OMG.. i wonder how the director and actors can tahan the long filming hours of the extended version and luckily they decided to cut away some of the stuff so that when it went to the cinemas, it din cause us to squirm in our seats hoping the show will end so we can go empty our bladders :)

Still the parts which were cut away actually helped make it clearer how things came to be (i.e. why gandolf seems to not be using his staff anymore in LOTR3 etc) though they made each movie about slightly over 2 hours plus long.

Yesterday we also went to look @ our wedding pics and selected 76 of our best photos to put in our album. I can't wait to show u all how it turned out because we are rather surprised and glad that the shots which mattered turned out good.

Yay !! we are almost there ladies and gents! We can't wait.


Oh btw, Gwizzly is CLEAN again ! :p

When snuffy hubby calls...

he reduces me to a blushing, giggly mess.

snuffy hubby hardly ever calls me during the course of the day because we're both busy.

but when he does, i turn into this shy and giggly girl right in front of my colleagues.

and when he tells me he loves me, i get way too shy to say it back in front of everyone, knowing they're all looking at me or listening to me.

so when i giggle, snuffy gets the message.

i do love his calls and our little tete-a-tete over the mobile.

he often just calls to say "i love you".

i love you too sweetie. =)

and i found a note at the corner of my desk today...

"i am amazed by the capabilities of my wifey! love, hubby."

he had written that and left it at my desk last friday while he waited for me to get off work. =)

Two months to Oz...

and in exactly two months from today...(or yesterday now, rather), we'll be getting hitched!

snuffy hubby and i are so excited that we started filling out the invite cards today and marvelling over how cute gwizzly looks.

it's such a joy to be able to see and feel the reflection of your love for your partner when you look at him.


we had gone to a coffee club at CENTRAL after dinner today for some desserts.

snuffy ordered the usual mudpie while i ventured one called "banana butterscotch cheesecake". go figure.


we had chanced upon this tokidoki iPod skin at Bishan Junction 8 over the weekend!

droolsome! simply love tokidoki's designs for the iSkin and LeSportsac...

you can imagine how mac-crazy snuffy hubby and i will get when we're on our honeymoon...*shudder in anticipation*

what more could an angsty little superhero girl ask for?

Dos Months more !

2 months away ! And we are So So So excited :p I've gotten used to sleeping with wifey next to me, waking up in the morning, reaching over and giving her a morning peck on the lips and our usual morning hugs. I love to be able to do that everyday and everynight before we konk out. AHahh... wedding's coming. After that is our honeymoon! Wifey was telling me she was so excited for the honeymoon too! maybe even more so than the wedding.

Me too!. I-Can't-Wait :)

Girl's just wanna have fun.

the girls had planned a hen party on the eve of labor day from a while back, and so the crew went out on monday night for dinner and some activities later on.

dinner was peppered with hot updates on everyone's current lives and a little discussion on what the girls would be wearing on our wedding day.

and i was bestowed (to my absolute amusement) a feather boa and a tiara!!!


now a feather boa, i've seen used...but how the hell do you wear a tiara?!!



it was all fun and games (and the girls gave me a precious moments photo album too...=)) until they told me i had to wear those two things all the way to st james powerstation!

THE HORROR!

but doing something like that wasn't as daunting because we were in a crowd and heading towards a club.

the girls couldn't escape the red feather boa...



we then headed to st james powerstation for some dancing, but we weren't hearded to the expected movida (where the latin band is).

daphne brought us to dragonfly instead, where we stood in awe in front of a stage full of female band members and singers, skimpily clad dancers, benjamin eio (of echoboys fame) and william scorpion...all singing in mandarin, cantonese and THAI.

so how josee fitted in...go figure. =P

but we had a lotta fun just watching the show...and we cringed when the male artist took off his top as he sang alex to's mandarin song roughly translated to "take it off".

like...put on some bulk man. =P

most of us were really watching the girls...haha.

we then headed over to the bellini room where the FUN started.

the band's cute caucasian lead led me up on stage as he sang FEVER and crooned to me, made eyes, knelt in front of me...THE WORKS.

all i heard was the girls' hooting...my gosh...shingling and weirong must've screamed their lungs out!

so i took my feather boa and made full use of it...but the shoes were all wrong so i was wobbly the whole time i was up there.

ah well...it was all good and fun. =)

thanks to the girls who planned and turned up that evening - josee, gloria, ling, daphne, shingling, weirong, hsiao ching and chin fee.

you guys are good sports. =)

My girl in red dancing shoes

We had cheese fondue @ swiss culture @ suntec the other night and it was very good. The chicken wings had those chickadee powder and so it was very very tasty. I think we had too much meats though but overall its recommended :)
Just last night i met up with 2 friends (one of whom salsaed with me since b2 i reckon) for dinner. It was pretty ok cos i havent met them for a couple of months already. The usual questions were asked and wifey was there to answer them. Camille jogged my memory when she mentioned i used to refer to Serene as the girl with the red dancing shoes. So the story goes like this (in case u all wonder too...) that the first time i noticed wifey was when she was @ xen bar. She was dancing with philbert and boon (if memory serves me well) and i was like "wow... " Then after that i did wanted to ask her to dance then but i was newbie so no guts. She left early that night i think so i continued dancing.
Now here's where the memory is a bit fuzzy, but i reckon it happened this way:
I mentioned to Camille about this and i happen to see Wifey again @ union. I must have pointed out to Camille and at that time, her most obvious piece of clothing was her super bright red dancing shoes (which looked REALLY GOOD on her btw heehehe ) and thus from then on, Camille and me referred to her as the red dancing shoe girl (till we got her name of course)

Hahahh interesting no how things fall into place almost 2 years later? :P

I will let the wifey tell u more about her hen night and it involved a feather boa plus a tiara Hhhehehe :P
