"if she came with us..."

"if she came with us, she would be the one winning the votes."

"are you sure you can't cancel your trip to come with us?"

"are you sure you don't want to come with us?"

i was confronted by the people i want to tunisia with three years ago. tonight.

apparently, because i couldn't join the bidding team as presenter this year, they had to relinquish the presentation part of the bid to a non-scout, as requested by the STB.

they were pissed at the thought, and were trying to guilt-trip me.

all this, while only asking if i was available to go to korea with them just two weeks back.

my aunt and i had already indicated our interest after our first stellar bid in tunisia, but since no one approached us, we figured that they got together a new hit of a team.

but after tonight's viewing of the final rehearsal, i can't help but say "these guys don't learn, do they?"

they had a lot more time to prepare for this bid, compared to the last one. but in spite of the seemingly young and skeletal team we put together in 2005, we showed the world scout community our goods.

you can revisit my blog on these events here. and the gwizzly photoblog here.

in short, we were THE BOMB.

the japanese, the australians, and even the swedes knew it.

it was the first time our small country ran a bid for the world scout jamboree, but we ran a close one with the swedes, and lost just by a slight margin.

anyhow...i wish them luck in korea.

and if they don't win this time, they really ought to get out of their musky boxes and get the people who really know how to get the show running to do it.

and they should stop guilt-tripping me. =(

Gasp... its bigger!

well... we kinda succumbed to getting something bigger..... that is, a bigger TV. A whopping 47" for our living room and we will move the 32" i bought earlier this year to our bedroom.
*GRIN*.... i can't wait to then get a PS3 (wink @ wife) so that we can enjoy full HDMI glory!

investor central's night out...

our intern, amelia, will be heading back to the states real soon.

so big brother JS suggested taking her out to a few good food places to try out some of the core of singapore cuisine. our first trip was to be to adam road food center for the famous TULANG.

unfortunately though, JS got into an accident earlier in the day and had to stay home to rest. we felt awful sorry starting on the food tour without him, since he was the most excited member of our merry crew. =(

here's what we were in for...

yummy roti john, kambing soup...

and the main dish of the night...TULANG.

the hubby and i haven't tried the marrow before so we were rather excited to try it out. we were pleasantly surprised to find that the usual mutton smell and taste was masked by the savory, thick gravy. and the marrow was less squishy than expected.

but it wasn't really WOAH...so the hubby wasn't too impressed.

our favorite dish of the night had to be the kambing soup. you really could just have that for your meal...with bread, of course. =)

and then the photo-whoring began...

so there you have it.

the investor central girls aka mark's angels. =)

in black and white...

it's funny how i sometimes see things in black and white.

like...while walking past the school next to home this morning, i saw, in my head, this little american indian boy i photographed some years back. in black and white.

and then i saw, in my head again, this little girl i photographed around the same time. in color.

i marvel at how the hubby and i can be walking down the streets hand in hand, and i can see scenes in black and white. and others, in color.

as i am sitting in my lecture theater, i cannot see anything in black and white.

but as i walked to school, i could see the school building in black and white.

maybe i should get back to black and white, MANUAL photog. =)

Fei Zai (Fatso)

heheh who knows, this might be the dog we will get after all! While doing our visits to the pet shop @ vivo, we spotted a Bernese mountain pup! and its SO SO CUTE! a little boy. Looks really like a fat little boy... so the name FeiZai automatically came to mind. We had almost half a mind to buy him there and then and name him FeiZai.
Happily though i think he's been bought. Now there's another bernese female there now :)
Very very tempting!!

interesting tibits

interesting :0

also if you happen to meet someone who is clueless @ his/her job, you can say to him/her
"Now, there is a level ZERO" :P

everybody wants kungfu fighting....

man.... what a good show :) This ranks amongst the animation greats like Monster Inc. and Cars. Definitely a movie I will get the DVD for and keep and show my kids next time.

*BIG POUT*

oh well.... what to do, our market not big enough.

That being said though, not sure if we are gonna get it. Right now our focus is on buying stuff for the house so this is a good to have but not necessary....

though a BD present of it wouldn't be half bad now would it?

Pee Ass Peesssss

Patapon
This has been capturing my attention on my psp for the past few weeks. It has a catchy musical beat and uses (of all things) drum beats to play the game. The graphics is simple yet detailed at the same time and I think i have barely broken maybe 20% of the game! so fun....
Loco Roco

This now has been capturing wife's attention (i have yet to break into this yet :p). THis is another fun filled game (from the same producer as patapon) and it involves a squishy jelly like character (that can split into many mini-jellies) and they move around the world by rotating the world. So FUN!

Very highly recommended :)

we are even thinking of puting loco roco's pics on one of our walls.... so cute and uplifting :)

FEEL GOOD GAMEs for young and old..

Marriage and weddings

less than 1 more month to our 1st year anniversary! How time flies.... so far these 2 years we have been together, every year has been an exciting one. This one was no exception as we have bought our apt and will be starting our next phase of our lives soon. Next year's excitement? probably the little pup we will get after we move to the new place :)
Ah... marriages and weddings.... how interesting the number seems to increase once you reach a certain age.... or once your peers reach a certain age.
Recently i heard the happy news that one of my salsa friends has accepted the proposal of her bf and will be marrying soon! I think next year i will be expecting about 3 weddings to attend! So exciting... pocket burn hole too... hahahaa. Maybe this salsa friend might be my neighbour (as she's considering a west-side apt)... then maybe we can start a salsa club in the condo. *GRIN*
I also attended my cousin's wedding last weekend and it was pretty interesting mainly because the groom's side of the family had a huge list of friends. So all in all it was a grand ole wedding with lots of tradditional chinese type of waiting around for things to happen. One observation was a big difference in how the families react within each other and to the wedding. On our side, my relatives are more conservative and chinese whereas they are more western and english in their thinking and behavior. Thus they can openly joke amongst themselves and are comfortable even in the presence of strangers. Whereas my side seems to whisper dark secrets to one another and remain more reserved in our behavior.
Though all in all, i am glad wifey and I had the opportunity to run our wedding the way we want it :)
sure there are flak and stuff along the way, still we did it and that for us is all that matters now :)
