SHINE

i've been down with a bad bout of flu since friday, and been feeling the effects of losing all that fluid and energy in the past couple of days.

i saw the doctor for the second time today and went home after polishing off some work.

but i couldn't miss the shine meeting because it was an interview.

turns out i wasn't to be interviewed, but was on the interview panel instead.

so for the second year running, zongyin and i have been teamed up with steve and lina (not sure if i've spelt it right) to help out in the SHINE youth advisory panel.

i was slightly concerned the event would clash with our wedding date but heaved a huge sigh of relief when we found out the launch event would be on 30 june.

still, it's gonna be a whole crazy ride all over again for the lot of us.

for the uninitiated, SHINE is the festival for youths, by youths, and is an initiative by the ministry of community development, youth and sports.

it'll be running for the whole month of july and both formal and informal groups can apply for grants of various amounts to host an event or project.

the panel organized a scrapbooking event last SHINE, when eric was our event photographer for most of the day.

so apart from agreeing to be part of the panel today, i also had some pretty awesome news to announce.

i told zongyin that i was marrying our photog for scraps. =)

thanks to my hubby in advance for supporting me on SHINE and the impending entry to school.

i'm so glad he's with me through all this and i hope he'll find SHINE as fun as i found it last year!

baby's sick....

brought my parents to go see our wedding venue yesterday. They were very excited and pleased and felt it was definitely oodles better than the original venue. Yay.. i'm glad. :P Now once the rest of the things settle down we should be well on our way to honeymoon ! YIpie....

Last nite went over to visit wifey cos she was sniffy and not feeling too good.. brought over ice cream from awefully chocolate.. YUmmy.. then we watched a movie in her room.

She's resting @ home now... and i do hope she feels better soon !

*do get-well dance*...

Who wants to be a superhero?

omg.. there's a reality tv series that is entitled "WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPER HERO"

Meet 2 of the characters, the winner is the guy who's called FEEDBACK, and the gal is called Fat Mamma.

Its quite cool as they get ordinary pple who have had dreams of being superheros a chance to get their superhero featured in their own comic book line ! Creator Stan Lee (who gave u greats like Spiderman and Spawn) came up with the idea. Here's an excerpt of the 1st episode:

"Stan sends the superheroes to a public park and tells them that, when summoned by their communication devices, they must change into their costumes as quickly as possible without anyone seeing them. They must then race through a nearby archway, which is the finish line. The superhero who has the fastest time wins. Little do they know that the true test is to stop and help a crying child, who has been placed strategically near the finish line."

U know u gotta check this out :P

Rollercoaster-Ridin' with My Hubby

when life throws you one too many hard balls, you may very well just give up hoping.

but somehow, just when you're about to let up, something swoops by to bring you back up into the clouds for a while.

i told snuffy hubby our journey leading up to the wedding day is like a rollercoaster ride.

and he knows how much i hate rollercoasters.

things that didn't seem like options a month ago (which had caused me a whole lotta distress and tears), now are.

but these don't come easy, and without tears.

i had a huge bawl last night after dinner at hubby's.

it was cathartic but i don't think the session's quite done yet.

many times today, i felt the urge to cry but couldn't since i was in more than snuffy hubby's company.

it sure doesn't help when you've got a running nose, sore throat and related breathing difficulties to contend with.

we saw a condo at a fantastic location this afternoon.

unfortunately though, everything within our price range was already taken and all that's left is something we'd have to struggle to own.

so after a whole afternoon and night of summing, i told snuffy hubby we should just let it go and not even consider it as an option.

it'd be too hard for us to enjoy our newly-wedded lives if we had to get by on minimum disposable income.

i think he was trying to make it happen because of me.

and i just can't help wondering what i ever did to deserve someone so wonderful in my life.

whenever i think of how eric showed up, i just can't help but cry my eyes out.

i'm still in awe of how we came to be, even just four months before our big day.

i cry in his arms when i'm upset.

i cry alone when i feel overwhelmed by his love and care.

he knew how helpful it'd be for me if we could afford that place because of the NEL, proximity of amenities and family.

but i suggested that this might very well be like the time we searched for our wedding venue.

in the end, we didn't choose the beaufort and instead got something else which will present a unique experience to everyone attending.

so now, while it seems like we're giving up the perfect nest, i'm pretty certain we'll find something we can both be proud of in due time.

i just hope we won't be put through too many of these rides in the future.

because i'm pretty certain my health won't let me survive too many of those. =(

World Scout Day!

Hey guess who i met, Yi Lin whom i met thru salsa. Small world. She was a proud recipient of the Baden Powell award. So cool :) Beside her in the other scout uniform is Bubba who is Serene's good fren too. He knows Nicolette who was in the same dance performance team as me in salsa ! Really SMALL world :P

becos you chose her...

a fren of serene's asked me abt some photograph questions. He was asking me which image i would select as his entry into a photography competition. After selecting i disclaimed by saying that I am no pro so its just an opinion.
To which he replied that since i chose serene, my tastes can be trusted.

*ROFL* :p

The Scout Law

not many of you know this, but i'm a scout leader with yeung ching scouts open group.

our little cub scouts have recently won the top prize in a lion dancing competition.

yes, our scout group does lion (and dragon) dance.

alas...this year has been quite the roller-coaster ride so elmie and i haven't had the time to train together for CAI QING this chinese new year.

we finally met yesterday at the scout's founder's day dinner where my boys performed their winning lion dance formation!

it was nice to be able to hug elmie and ernie tight for a while.

not many of you may know that my snuffy hubby is/was a scout too.

he was even a president's scout during his school days, and when you've been bestowed such an honor, you immediately gain the respect of most in the scouting community.

so yesterday when snuffy hubby and i attended our first scout outing together, it was rather amusing.

firstly, his friends around our table asked him why i knew so many people in the scouting community (because i was running around the whole hall schmoozing with the bigwigs).

secondly, the bigwigs i introduced him to all asked if he was a scout.

and when he said he was, they all nodded in approval. =)

thirdly, they all asked me where i've been hiding him because it's the first time they've heard of me being attached and then suddenly announcing my impending marriage.

to a president's scout, no less.

of our scout invite list to the big day include:

hong leng - snuffy's ex-scout leader from ACS
noel hon and wife - president of the singapore scouts (and our justice of peace)
nicholas tang - chief commissioner
mr yeo - serangoon district commissioner
andrew - can't quite remember his position but it's big
malcolm tan - east area commissioner and ex state coroner

encik yatiman yusof would also be on the list.

he was such a fatherly figure for all of us in tunisia, even when he was our accompanying minister.

he loved gwizzly like his own teddy bear and was always there to offer a handshake of comfort or just a smile to brighten up the morning.

what a fantastic and personable minister.

everytime the lot of us attend a scout event, we'd reminisce about tunisia.

and nicholas pointedly told us not to have babies anytime soon because he needs me to
do the next bid for the world scout jamboree to be held in japan!

all in all, i'm glad snuffy hubby's a scout, a salsa dancer and a geek.

because i'm all of the above too. =)

Are you feelin' lucky?

heeee :P ... wish us luck !

Maybe Baby

snuffy hubby says he loves waking up next to me.

though i think we love waking up next to each other on weekends really because we get to lie in bed facing each other and talk.

during the weekdays, i have to yank myself outta bed at half past 6 and run to the bus stop to catch the 6.54am bus (which is often irregular) to work.

so snuffy hubby tells me the night before that i should wake him up because he wants to say goodbye to me.

this morning, after i ran over to kiss him and bid him goodbye, he mumbled...

"it's okay."

and i'm like..."what? umm...i said...'bye'!"

and he goes "it's okay."

i figured we would've gone on forever like that so i chuckled and shut the room door behind me.

Morning Bliss

oh yea.. i forgot to mention..

i love waking up with my wifey beside me in the morning....
i love making her laugh early in the morning...

these few days i have had wierd interesting dreams ....
one of the morning i mentioned to my wifey:
"i had a dream...."
"what?"
"my parents were trying to take over the world...."
ROFL...

i had other assorted weird dreams as well and i try to recall them and mention to wifey in the morning when i awake. She will always laugh at them because they are seriously weird..
Wifey said something though.... she said that ever since she got with me, she no longer has nightmares, but sleeps well or occasionally have dreams... but no more nightmares...

i am glad :)

Piggin' Love You

Well well well... a good break for us all... the Lunar New Year came and went.... 4 days of eatin' n chillin' n havin' fun :P
Reunion night dinner was S-A-T-I-S-F-Y-I-N-G. The steamboat we had was so full of essence goodness that downing the soup at the end was worth it.
First day involved visiting going over to my grandma place and with my mom side of the family. Many pple of cos already know we are getting married by now and were surprised to note the change in venue but I think they were quite intrigued by it. Of cos I was constantly reminded that this will be the last year i receive angbaos *groan*....At night I went over with wifey to her uncle's place for her side of gathering. I managed to play Mahjong with what wifey's brother term as "the matriarch" of the family (grandma). They are pretty good.. either that or I am just unlucky. Heeheee..
2nd day involved gathering at my place for my side of the family and then a visit to Glo's place. It was great seeing so many of the salsa scene again there and watching the taped THEDANCEFLOOR shows. OMG they are so good... i tink it would have been challenging if me and wifey took part in it ! Though it would have been fun ;p Maybe next year....
Last day was entertaining my dad's side of the family and then a little partor timing with my wifey.
Of cos in between me and the wifey had a lot of fun watching movies, videos, shopping and even looking at the impending wedding bedsheet to buy for my bed.
Last night when i sent her back home her parents teased us saying "oh you are all back from holiday ah?" cos they havent seen their daughter for a few days already. hehehehe...
All in all, this was a good break for us all and I loved every moment of it, especially those i get to snuggle..... :P

Can't wait till 5th March!
Can't wait till 7th July!
Can't wait can't wait :)))

Of Sausages and Mash Potatoes

someone had asked me yesterday how i felt, knowing i'd be meeting the hubby's extended family for the first time this chinese new year.

fact is, this wouldn't be the first time i'll be seeing them.

just a couple of weeks into our relationship, i emceed snuffy hubby's brother's wedding in mandarin.

so outta circumstance, i've already met all of his relatives.

and because we weren't the focus of the day, i had it easy and just had plenty of fun chatting with everyone around.

we were at raffles city shopping center earlier because snuffy nagged at me to get another set of make-up so i didn't have to carry my pouch to and from the office.

so we shared a huge cheese sausage and mash potato at chippy takeaway (that's anything BUT fast food), and he said...

"this is why i love you so much."

and i scooped myself a helping of mash potato and asked him why.

"because of all these small things you do everyday. you make me fall in love with you all over again."

i think he was referring to me feeding him some food.

and i'd like to thank him for making me feel comfy everytime i'm at his place...even acceding to my request to change ALL HIS PILLOWS because they were just too lumpy!

now we have new, solid cushioning which we proudly exclaim are LUMPY NO MORE!

i feel like a little girl
trying to conquer the whole wide world.

EPIC MOVIE - Its Epicly Sucky !

omg.... what came over me to make me drag my wifey down to watch this movie.... i tink the rap song that goes "We are the pirates, of the carribian....". Between watching the mixmatch of spoof of movies and all the laughter from a particularly loud guy next to me, my wifey fell asleep during the movie. Shows you just how BORING and nocontent this show is. Its a wonder they ever make it this far though. Do the americans really like this sort of show? R they really paying to watch this.......B-grade.....crapzola ? What on earth is going on?

One ring to rule them all

Yesterday before going to Goldheart, i was looking @ wedding bands online. Wow there sure are very nice band designs online. You can even buy Lord of the Ring THE RING as a wedding ring! How cool is that !!!!
Its a pity that most jewelers in SG carry more conservative line. ~sigh~. Saw a damm cool black tungsten one... Actually when we were touring in HK we did see something similar. Wifey said that we can always buy additional rings next time and mix and match as we want... yay ! :p

So we did it. We bought the rings yay !!! hahha another task down. So happy. Took some pics and I cant wait to wear em. We will go see an engraver to engrave words..

now what to engrave...

hmmmmmmm *taps chin*....

oh vday was pretty ok for us as we had a pretty good meal @ soup kitchen and then back to my home for a good rest :P

love ya wifey !

All About The Benjamins

the weekend with snuffy hubby was absolutely wonderful.

quality time is what we call it.

and it included shopping for pillows (since his were more lumpy than the spikes in a sea cucumber).

we had also checked out some wedding bands and the one i had always liked and he hadn't liked before.

as he scrutinized it on his ring finger, he agreed that the look grew on him.

so while we haven't made a decision, we're gonna try them on for size.

that said, things are falling into place very nicely.

the designer called while we were having dinner to say he's gonna email me his design.

snuffy hubby is the sweetest thing.

i was to meet him after work today but decided last minute to go for FJ Benjamin's earnings' briefing and to interview Nash Benjamin.

for the uninitiated, fj benjamin is the company who brings in la senza, guess, raoul (house brand), the gap and the upcoming banana republic.

plus, they also have a hand in st. james powerhouse.

so i simply couldn't pass up the chance to have a chat with nash.

and snuffy hubby offered to swing by to pick me up from the office after i'm done with my interview.

i'm thankful for his growing sensitivity and initiative.

his hugs are also therapy for my daily dosage of crazy at the office.

put on some corrinne may on the cd player and the evening is complete.

Calling for cars...

hi all,

i was just wondering if anyone knows where i can rent a :

1) White / Cream colored Chrysler PT Cruiser? http://www.chrysler.com/pt_cruiser/index.html
2) Jaguar
3) White / Cream colored new Beetle?

any help/leads would be greatly appreciated ! :P

Month of Feb

The Month of feb is usually very exciting cos there is CNY and there's Vday amongst other things.
This will be our first Vday together and we are pretty cool and laidback abt it. We both felt it would be nice to just chill instead of going out and get caught up in the rush and the expenses. *Yay* Besides, if you are so in love with someone, shouldn't everyday be like Vday? :P

U know, looking @ my wifey's schedule, its amazing how she finds time for herself at the end of the day; work in the day time, lessons @ nite. Even so, its so sweet that she wants to spend time too with me even though she's like packed with activities. Recently i've been volunteering to help out with her lessons because teaching Salsa by yourself can be really tough. There's a different side of her when she teaches and when she's with me. hahaha.. thankfully i love them both.

So with another packed weekend (viewing car, reunion dinners, open bank account etc) to come, I am looking forward, as always, to spending snuggling time with my wifey :)))

Love ya !

The Ring

as i closed the lid on the ring box eric proposed to me with, the stone inside seemed to wink at me one last time for the night.

yes, i keep the ring in the box every night and wear it again every morning before i head out.

snuffy hubby thinks it's cute. =)

and i'm thinking of getting a haircut after chinese new year, but the mother suggested keeping my hair long to style for the wedding and photographs.

but snuffy hubby is all right with me snipping my hair away and says i'll look good anyway.

i think he's just being biased. =P

One Night In Beijing

it's way past midnight in beijing.

since wednesday, i've traveled through guangzhou, shenzhen, zhengzhou, shenyang and changchun.

it was coldest in shenyang and changchun, with the latter going down to negative 20 degrees celsius and snow lying all around the roads and pavements.

most of our time was spent on traveling, jetting about and going on 4.5hr-long coach rides.

so i hardly had any time to think about much else but work and, of course, my snuffy hubby.

the girls on the trip must be pretty envious of me and how i've found such a wonderful man.

i think i still need to get past what i did tuesday.

snuffy hubby's been nothing but sweet about the whole thing, though i just can't help feeling a tinge of sadness on looking at the picture i took of it last sunday.

i should probably delete it off my camera.

on a brighter note, the trip's been quite an experience.

i've experienced entertaining in china, paired with having a bevy of girls parade in front of you for the men to choose from.

i've learnt to deal with men who make passes at me and simply just laughing their advances off, and gently decline them wanting to introduce their offspring to me.

(though this also means i've just turned down marrying into a bloody rich and powerful family =P)

now the whole group knows i'm engaged to be married in july, and that i'm VERY HAPPY with my snuffy hubby. =)

and he'll be picking me up from the airport later tonight.

Baby come bac....

These few days wifey's flying ard in China visiting malls and factories and at night she has to entertain and even KTV. The weather's pretty cold there though but she remarked that its amusing how the other travelers tease her for her lack of clothing but they themselves are the ones scampering ard. I love the smses that we sent to each other.. expensive phone bills aside it helps to know that we have each other in mind and heart :p

Wifey's coming back tomorrow... I cant wait to see her and have her jump into my arms...

she cant wait too..

tee-hee-hee :D
