sneaky little devil i am :)

last night someone enlisted my stealth expertise (as a rogue in WoW) and we sneaked into Sethekk Halls to take a crack at Talon King Ikiss without going through all that grinding. And it worked. We wiped once with Ikiss but the 2nd time we worked like a charm (only 3 of us, 2 druids and me the rogue).
Got meself a mace so it was all cool! Ahahah i hope to run a few more times to get my shoulderpads.. my old ones r looking crappy...

Wifey has her Hen night tonight.. i hope they will go easy on her! :p

Office's rather quiet today as most pple went on long long wkend.

Yay tomorrow's a HOLIDAY !

*cant wait to see our wedding pics*

It was BAD.

snuffy hubby and i were looking forward to an evening of THE DANCEFLOOR, rooting in particular for soul fusion - the LADC team.

the actual final show itself was, at least, bearable, given the focus on the five teams and their items.

and i got sort of a running commentary from panda, who was at the scene.

we took a breather for the news and the results show came after.

and that's when things turned REALLY, REALLY BAD.

we've already seen what the teams are capable of so let's just put performances aside for this post.

the production sucked. the hosts (well, a couple, at least) sucked big time tonight.

we weren't quite harsh on the production until judge li-lin said that production team did a good job.

first, inconsistency. a trailer post-finals, pre-results show had host Glenn Ong wearing a denim jacket. he was wearing a black blazer for the finals and results show.

second, bad camera angles. evident from the first show, when footwork should've been shown instead of close-ups. granted that it hasn't gotten much experience filming dance, but given the years of experience with variety, they should have done their research. it's not just normal camera work.

third, BAD WAY OF ANNOUNCING WINNERS. telling melvin and sharon they lost to vas and pris was one thing, but pulling fantastic four out was extremely redundant. just announce the winner already, even if it's pure formality.

also, the voting style should be done ala SYTYCD, where the judges choose the bottom three, and the viewers vote for their favorites. that will make it less of a popularity contest, to some extent.

for most of the season, jade seah was pretty much made out to be a token female presenter.

she lacks eloquence and cannot hold her own.

but tonight's show took the cake, because glenn seemed to join her in that "duh" parade.

but let's give them the benefit of the doubt, and consider that perhaps they were reading off a tele-prompter.

if they WERE narrating pre-written scripts off tele-prompters, then the scriptwriters were HORRIBLE.

in the results show, glenn gave summaries of what the judges said to the competing teams.

he said bill calhoun had four letters for soul fusion - DAMN - when it was clearly "DANG".

and for platinum, he said george chan had two words - EARTH QUAKE - when he had said "GLOBAL WARMING"!

like...how can repeating key words be so difficult?

the hosts were also required to lengthen their spiel because they had some time left at several points.

i know because they did such a bad job of concealing that.

jade needs to brush up because she isn't a natural host. glenn probably just had a bad day.

all that said, i am NOT an expert in production, but i've learnt and seen enough to safely say that this final show ain't gonna be winning any ATV awards.

Photoshooting !

So last friday we took our wedding photos and it was fun. well.. we made it fun. our photographer seemed a bit more reactive than proactive :( nevertheless me and the wifey had our own brand of fun hehe. Sometimes i wish pple get wat they are being sold on ... sigh... in my ideal world maybe hehehe. The weather was VERY VERY kind to us too ! There was one bit we went into our venue to take pics and then it rained. when we exited it was clear skies again :) yay !!
Last nite we had a nice dinner with serene's mom and brother and good frens @ pasta brava. Met JnJ there too. Food was not bad but the desserts were lacking. After that we went DANCING .... And it was all good. Many of our friends were there and we had lotsa fun. Yay... tonight's gonna be the dance floor and I sure hope Soul Fusion wins :p
Here's a parting picture of my favourite dish. Wife-ala-Wrap
Good weekend all !

Tomorrow's Photo day !

Tomorrow we will be taking our wedding photos! I sure hope that today the skies will all rained out so tomorrow we will have more peace when taking pictures. That being said though we don't really have a lot of outdoor shoots... but i envision lotsa $$ spent on parking *sob*...
I sure hope our photographer can take shots like the ones i found below....

awesome aren't they?

Punctured my lip

the hubby and i got a little too excited with hugging each other and as we threw our arms around each other...

the would-be kiss punctured my upper lip.

ah well, that's what you get when you start teething in your mid-stages of your toddlerhood in the relationship.

What if....

I enjoy contemplating what if scenarios... i guess its part of the upbringing i had when i was a scout.. cos the motto was "Be Prepared", thus sometimes i do think of "what if" scenarios when making a decision... to this end, I have come to enjoyed books by Harry Turtledove. He writes a series of books that dwell with "What if".

What if the South won the Civil War in America? (FYI, the South lost the Civil war and thus we have USA today. Else America will look very very different now)

What if the South had access to AK47 (courtesy of time travelling Nazis)

What if Aliens visited Earth during WW2?

What if Japan followed up their attack on Pearl harbour with a land invasion?

Of course its not just about toying with these scenarios, the way he writes the stories and fleshes out the characters is quite amazing. So now I am eagerly waiting for the books to finish up on 3 series i am following

a) It is WW2 and the North and South america are fighting each other (as well as rest of the world). They are now both racing to build the atomic bomb. Who will finish first?
b) Japan has been pushed off Hawaii and now faces the full might of america. Will it survive?
c) It is the future and there is Crosstime Traffic. Where travellers from our world travel to alternate realities to do trade for natural resources.

Pretty amazing especially if they write beautifully and are able to paint a story that is plausible. :)

I often wonder if i can write a story that is captivating enough since i enjoyed writing composition a lot during my sec sch days (i often get very high scores :p )

Ding 12..... and a long way to go still...

So tonight with her ibook, we manage to play about an hr or so and dinged 12. But her ibook's rather sluggish... hmmm.. hopefully her laptop can do a better job. Else i gotta reinstall my pc and hopefully the restarting bug goes away!! ...

stp old pc :(

Taking a crap

Something funny one of my man told me during reservist (true story):

Whilst in malaysia, his friend's GF refuse to take a dump at roadside patrol kiosks etc, so she decided to use a plastic bag and took a dump inside (dun ask me how!). After which she placed it in her LV bag and the journey continued.
When they next reach another rest point, she was taking the LV bag and wanted to go throw away the shit inside.
Suddenly a bike ZOOOOMed past and grab her bag and scooted off. The boyfriend calmly walked the gf back to the car and they left.

Can you imagine:
a) The look on the robbers face when they eagerly opened the LV bag to discover that their loot is really just CRAP ? Ahhaahaha.. puts a different perspective in the phrase "Taking a crap" doesn't it?
b) Can you imagine the boyfriend and the girlfriend making a police report?
"So lady, what was in your bag? What did you lose?"
"Plastic bag of shit"
"WHAT ??"

*AHAHAHHAHA*

Only Fools Rear Sheep (I mean rush in...)

Yesterday we caught the movie "Wild Hogs". Its a pretty ok movie. Quite funny... The movie tells about these 4 dudes that are so caught up in the adult life that they never really are happy. Till they took a road trip. Ironically, its also as if the real actors took up a "road trip" by agreeing to act in the movie. Its not that fantastic but still quite funny. That and we watched it on the GV Max HUGE 22 meters across screen was awesome :)

Wifey and me were talking about songs and its amazing how similar we are. We both love Barry Mannilow (Copacabana) songs! My parents, especially my mom, used to play oldies on our car stereo when i was young so i grew up listening to songs like "Sad Movies" and "Tell Laura". So did hers and thus we both grew up loving those songs as well. So its pretty amazing that we found each other and can click so well. I'm so blissful and so happy. Thanks wifey :)

Something funny.. u know the song "Cant help falling in love" ? Well, the lyrics goes "Wise men say, only fools rush in...."
My brother actually thought it was "Wise men say, only fools rear sheep..."

*giggle*

Choreographitis

ah yes.

it's that thing that hits you and keeps you up till way past your bedtime, consumes you as you're crossing the road and almost costs you your life.

being infected with choreographitis is NOT FUNNY.

Reservist....

Well i've been in reservist for the last wk and the last few days. Its actually the last incamp for most of the pple that are the same batch as me from my NSF days. However as I have missed some of the incamps i am not sure if i will be MR (read as Mindef Reserve) with them. MR means that the NS unit is to be closed down and no longer active. So no more IPPTS and ICTs for them. I can only hope if I am that lucky.
Its been quite a long road i guess since 10 years ago when they first started their ICT (wow 10 years ago i was serving my nation....) and now they are ready to shelf their uniforms and equipment (hopefully for good! hehehe)
Even the last incamp is not fraught with interesting events. For starters, we have a very siao on trainer who i figure is just trying to do some ego-trip on us. Its already the last incamp and for most of us we are still quite ready to move on orders (as compared to some reservists who no longer really listen to and follow orders). Yet this particular trainer seems to want to exert some form of his conventions/procedures on us. *SMACKS FOREHEAD*... if we were in our active time we wouldn't have bowed to his "crap".... instead since its the last one, we just nod and go "ya .. uh-huh....ok...." just to get it over with.
Anyway my ICT shld be ending soon :) and with it I am not too sure abt my NS life. Will it be another unit? Maybe i can play fireman (civil defence) ... not sure.... but going back to reservist sure is kinda fun cos u get to "be a man" and "hang out with the boys" again and just do alpha male stuff that u have long shed to join the norm in the civilized world *scratches.....*

one last thing,
i miss going back to my wifey and snuggling and kissing her good night.....
hehehe its gonna be so fun to be married to her !

*LOVE YA!*

All By Myself

it's true when you are packed to the brim, you wouldn't have time to feel lonely.

when i was in china on an analysts' trip with time watch investments, my four days were jam-packed with plenty of flights, details and schmoozing.

apart from the quiet last night i had in beijing, i hardly had time to miss snuffy hubby.

now that he's in reservist, i feel just a little odd not being able to head home to him after my day's activities.

it's his second week in camp but the first night he's not going home.

he just sms-ed to say he misses not seeing me tonight. *sniff*

snuffy hubby and i are not possessive of each other's presence or time, but we do miss each other.

we can still function and go on with work and social activities, but we'd much rather the other be around too.

it's always nice to head home to a nice, warm hug at the end of a brain-draining workday and offers of your favorite ice cream.

especially when you're sick.

i guess that's it...i miss him THIS MUCH MORE when i'm sick.

ah well. he babys up to me when he's under the weather too. =P

i'm constantly amazed at our connection and how emotionally tied we are.

on an end-note, our honeymoon is set!

we've booked our tickets and hotels and all that's left for us to do on that front is GO! =)

The Dance Floor

I am glad that Dapheny offered tickets for the show. It was a pretty interesting experience. I rushed down from after my reservist and Serene rushed down from work to try to make it in time by 7pm. I was glad we managed to get the tickets and got urshered in. Now this is where it gets MOST interesting.
There were avid supporters of the few teams that are left in the competition and boy are they very vocal. Whistles, cheers, dancing, etc. In general it was a very very noisy occasion. One side had tamborines and drums, the side i was with had a louder drum. Its nice to see the older folks getting into the action (i suspect they are parents of Soul Fusion members). In fact i dare say they were as loud as the youngsters. AHhahaha..
Then the show began and it got really interesting. All the waiting seemed pretty long but the show itself seemed to woosh by prettyy fast.
I really hope that we get to see Soul Fusion going thru the next round and into the finals. :) Good luck Dapheny ! You and the rest have already done so well so like Serene smsed, it ain't over till the fat lady sings :)

Thanks again for the tickets !!!

JIA YOU !!!!!!!

How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You

just months back, i was told i looked too skinny.

today, i was told by the very same guy who said that then, that i looked absobloomin'lutely radiant.

i offered the reason of weight gain, and he sized me up, then said "maybe".

then i offered the reason of the hubby, and that took the cake. =)

an analyst who overheard asked how come i still look slim after putting on 4kgs.

i shrugged.

must be the love that's pushing the weight to all the right places. =P

it feels nice to be talking about the hubby, though i've forewarned those who ask about him that i'm known to gush A LOT.

it feels nice to talk about him, especially when i'm so miserably ill. =(

but the evening at the dancefloor competition lifted my spirits slightly.

i was even touched to tears by vas and pris' performance.

nothing beats watching such performances live.

reminds me of the time i saw "burn the floor".

the best part about the whole evening in the studios was how much watching them made me want to dance right there and then.

i looked to snuffy hubby and asked if he felt the same.

he said that he did and added that the best part was...

that we have our whole lives ahead to learn it all.

*soothes my wheeze a fair bit.*

I'M NOT THAT GIRL

i just spent my weekly indulgence on a CD.

yes...i bought one, something which i haven't done in a long time.

and i had wanted it so much on a whim that i walked back to borders to get it after That CD Shop told me they didn't have it (like, what?!).

i had chanced upon the CD at borders earlier when i thought i'd just browse a little before heading off to training.

i chose one song to listen to.

and i was instantly hooked.

i wanted that CD so badly, yet didn't want to spend close to 30 bucks for it.

anyways, yes...i got it...the soundtrack of a new musical called Wicked.

i saw the book too and the context made me want to get the CD even more.

it's about the wicked witch of the west in the story of the wizard of oz and how things are told from her perspective.

and perhaps she's not as evil as she's made out to be, evil being subject to interpretation.

so now i've gotten the soundtrack, i shall probably wait a few more weeks before i spend another indulgence on the book. =)

the song which struck such a chord in me is one called "I'm Not That Girl".

hands touch, eyes meet
sudden silence, sudden heat
hearts leap in a giddy whirl
he could be that boy
but i'm not that girl

don't dream too far

don't lose sight of who you are
don't remember that rush of joy
he could be that boy
i'm not that girl

ev'ry so often we long to steal
to the land of what-might-have-been
but that doesn't soften the ache we feel
when the reality sets back in

blithe smile, lithe limb
she who's winsome, she wins him
gold hair and a gentle curl
that's the girl he chose
and heaven knows
i'm not that girl...

don't wish, don't start
wishing only wounds the heart
i wasn't born for the rose and pearl
there's a girl i know
he loves her so
i'm not that girl...

and if it's still on when i make my trip to new york next year...

he could be that boy
but i'm not that girl.

*****

back to present day.

eric and i have both read the book and heard the music.

AND WE'VE JUST BOOKED OUR ORCHESTRA TICKETS AT THE GERSHWIN THEATER FOR THE MUSICAL ON 10 JULY 2007!!!

talk about KNOWING.

i read and introduced the story to eric way before i realized the musical's a huge hit on broadway.

i had also promised myself (when i was 16 and standing in front of the huge christmas tree at rockefeller center) that i would be back there someday, feeling the same warmth i felt that christmas as i was standing there alone.

so to trot down the theater district, times square and central park with my snuffy hubby would surely be fulfilling one of my wildest dreams ever.

thank you, snuffy darling. =)

I beg to clarify.....

For the previous post...

a) Kid is not mine (so mom if u reading this, don't panic!)
b) Kid had very bug-out eyes! Even bigger than mine..
c) Kid was so mesmerised by the lights i hope he doesn't spoil them so fast!
d) I was wondering if i was rocking the kid too fast and too hard (dun wanna rattle his little brain inside too much...)
e) Kid was rather warm. Afterwards I had to pass to wifey as i was starting to perspire :(
f) Kid was panting rather heavily which got me worried..

HEE-HEE-HEE

The Last of the March Celebrations

the march babies of the lim family got together last evening for a birthday celebration.

it was in the few pictures that eric took using my mobile phone camera that i see how much weight i've put on!

and i was telling the colleague today how i may still look "skinny" (in her words) but i find myself slightly more curvaceous than before.

i've put on weight on my entire frame, and it shows...

anyways, snuffy hubby had a little tyke dumped on him last night at the dinner, and he had no choice but to hold him.

when the little thing was threatening to yell (and snuffy looked desperate), i told him to kinda rock the baby a little...and true enough, the bundle quietened down and returned to staring at the lights.

Was it true?

Did Eve eat an apple?
Was Newton hit on the head with an apple?
Did Walt Disney draw Mickey?
Why is Mickey oh so fine, so fine she will blow my mind? (ok.. maybe not this.. : P )

Meet the Robinsons and A little naked problem

Last nite on a spur of the moment wifey me and Eugene (wifey's brother) went to catch Meet the Robinsons. Its not a bad movie and is full of laughs, though the disney short movie before the main attraction was kinda out of place really. I kept wondering where's the catch in showing us an old clip of mickey, donald and pluto. *Shrugs*... go figure. Overall another wholesome family show.

Now the main attraction for today. The naked gnome race. It started off with me realising that the servers have been changed so I scrambled to create a character and enter the realm. only to be greeted by 27 other gnomes, guess the other few thousand had work or something to do. Oh well...

Then i realised my baby wasnt in! I called her up and quickly urged her *ever so gently* to create the character in the new server and come in. The race started off but she still wasnt in ! PANICK

Finally she came in and quickly stripped of her clothing (ON HER GNOME LAH) and we started running.

Running and running. But she had issues with lag and so even though her character is set to FOLLOW me, she kept running into walls and stuff. Think its a combination of lower specs of the laptop and the lag from wireless lan. Sigh... gave her endless frustrations and a few restarts too ! *BUMMER*

Ultimately though we did take a ride to Stormwind and then proceeded to venture out. I tot of taking a short cut (and to evade this wierd lvl 40+ human warrior from following us) and ended up getting us both killed. See our spiritual bodies. At that time someone has already won (GRATS U !) and most of them have already left the server. So we decided to call it quits.

It was a pretty interesting experience but we din really talk much. din see pple talk that much (maybe it was in the public chat). Nevertheless, Blizzard maybe can look into this as a way to shift pple to the low populated areas. Maybe they can host a race like this with a prize similar to what was offered today. And then most of these pple might decide to stay in the server since, well, they already made the first step and created a character here :)

SHINE

the SHINE team has been meeting for a few weeks now.

i've gotta say this year's SHINE looks like it's gonna be a blast!

for personal reasons as well.

a week after our official launch, i'll be marrying eric at old parliament and then jetting off on our honeymoon the very next morning. =)

we have larger responsibilities on our hands this year but also greater leeway, so this should be fun!

the team's now looking for freelance designers to help us with our marketing message and collaterals, so if you know anyone who's a designer, send him/her my way!

anyways, here's the SHINE Youth Panel (save for a couple who were away)...
