Sex and the City
Wifey and I have been disgesting whole seasons of SATC at home and boy is it fun. I never really took an interest in the show but since Wifey had the dvds, we started watching season 2 .... and then well, the entire series took a hold on us.
Its a very interesting series and quite a refreshing look on love, life, relationships and of course, sex. Though not everything may be applicable in our Singapore society still lessons can be learnt from the witty and often hilarious dialogue that occurs between characters.
We both agree that the character we like the most was Miranda's. She's sassy, opinionated and knows what she wants, but can melt for the man that she loves. Pretty much reminds me of my wifey :p so you can see why we both like the character.
Now we have to wait till May 2008 for the movie. I wonder how it will be like.
Watching serials like this also got me thinking the power of TV and escapism. I can totally understand why people want to immerse themselves in TV serials (or other forms of escapism like gaming etc) because often then not, its easier to focus on other people's issues and problems than to sometimes face your own. I guess subconsciously we all know that the issues these pple face or the problems faced in the TV / PC game can, well, be solved eventually or if not, just restart and try again. Forms of escapism also serve to provide a much more colorful and eventful fantasy version of life and brings us away from our own issues and troubles. Is it any wonder that addiction comes about?
If my life is like a TV show, then i much prefer it to be something like Friends or SATC, rather than like 24 or CSI *eeeps!* And if my life is a tv show, then i can't wait to start season 2 as we all know when it comes to the end of a season, usually there are drastic cliffhangers and everyone is left wondering what happens next whereas at the start of a new season, well usually its a tie up of loose ends in the previous season and some sense of hopefullness fo the new season.
Coming soon! (feverishly hoping) :)
